One of the most popular games in PC gaming history is without a doubt Warcraft III. Released in 2002 the game sold countless copies and received raving reviews, attaining cult status as one of the best RTS games of its generation. In fact, the game was so popular that Metacritic awarded it 92/100, a pretty high score for a PC game.

Revisiting Warcraft III

For obvious reasons, the demand for a revised, remastered version of the classic game has always been high and for this reason, Blizzard decided to schedule for 2019 release Warcraft III: Reforged. The revamped game will feature recreations of all the heroes, units and the buildings that made Warcraft III so popular.

Blizzard plans on launching the game with 62 missions that span across all the continents of the original game. You’ll have a choice of four races and as usual, each of these races will have different advantages and disadvantages.

Interestingly Warcraft III: Reforged is based on the same visual engine as the original Warcraft III. This does mean that the game will not offer significantly different visuals from the original game, but this is part of the point: people liked Warcraft III so much that only a game closely resembling the original make sense. However, the re-use of the Warcraft III visual engine brings us to some interesting hardware points.

Warcraft III: Reforged hardware requirements

Guess what happens if you use a 2002-era gaming engine in 2018? You guessed correctly, low hardware requirements. Anyone with anything resembling a modern gaming PC will be able to run Warcraft III: Reforged in its full glory.

You need a mere 2GB of RAM to run the game, and it will even function on Windows XP. Over and above that Blizzard recommends an 800Mhz or above processor (that’s 0.8Ghz if you missed that) and a mere 1.3 GB of hard drive space.

In short, you don’t have to worry about your PC’s hardware capabilities unless it’s well over 10 years old, and we don’t think there are any Gear-up.me followers with gaming PCs quite that old. Of course, if you haven’t updated your gaming PC in over ten years, we highly recommend that you make a fast run to our system configurator over here.
