A solid, dependable keyboard is always a good idea – after all, you’re interacting with your PC in large part using your keyboard. Keyboards are even more important for serious gamers, and the Thermaltake Level 20 RGB keyboard is a great option, particularly if you like customizing your PC. Let’s take a look.

Hardware features of the Level 20 RGB Titanium

You can expect a solid keyboard, even if it is largely no-frills. You get a choice of two types of Cherry switches for the keys, either MX Speed Silver or MX Blue, while there’s also a choice of either black or titanium finishes. It’s supposed to last a while, handling an average of 50 million key taps in its lifetime.

As a gaming keyboard you get a couple of custom keys, but nothing extensive like on some more serious – and more – expensive gaming keyboard models. This keyboard though includes five multi-media keys plus volume scroll and keys that let you activate or disable gaming mode. You can also adjust LED brightness using hardware buttons and lock the windows key if you want.

Some might like the USB and audio pass-through ports on the keyboard which can be handy for connecting devices without running long wires to your PC. Otherwise, the keyboard is no frills, you get a couple of rubber grips and a very solid USB cable to top it all off.

The keyboard may be relatively straightforward, but Thermaltake does include custom software which can help you program the keyboard to meet your requirements. Customization includes macros, changing key assignments and of course your choice of RGB lighting.

What is it like to live with?

It’s not a cheap keyboard and your hands will thank you for investing a bit more in this unit over the long run. The Speed Silver switches are more sensitive, while others might prefer the MX Red switch which can be a bit stiffer.

Either switch option will be responsive in gaming and we think the fact that the faceplate is aluminum not only looks great but also improves the chances of this keyboard lasting through many heavy gaming sessions. A good option overall and definitely worth investing in over a basic, cheap keyboard. Besides, keyboard technology hardly changes over time so you’ll be enjoying your investment for years to come.
