One thing you already know: Fortnite is popular as crazy, few games reach the kind of popular appeal that Fortnite has – and rarely this quickly. But what makes this game so incredibly popular? Here are some interesting facts that you probably didn’t know about Fortnite.

Cartoon-inspired game designs

Remember Looney Tunes? Well, the creators of Fortnite has taken inspiration from a range of cartoon characters including Looney Tunes, Tim Burton’s characters and of course ever-popular Pixar. It helps brings out a vivid look and reminds people of characters they love.

Fortnite Battle Royal

It’s very popular and eats up plenty of time

In fact, Fortnite has been accused of being so popular that it is in fact addictive. This has led to controversy, but research has shown that typical Fortnite gamers spend only six to ten hours a week with the game. OK, that is a lot of time but it is far from showing that Fortnite gamers are addicted to the game.

The numbers are huge

How huge exactly? Well in June 2018 Fortnite registered a total number of gamers hitting.... wait for it… 125 million. That is an enormous number of players and attests to the game’s popularity. Clearly gamers like it, a lot. And a lot of gamers like it, a lot!

Fortnite High Stakes

It’s been delayed forever

Released in 2017? Yes, but the original release date was set for 2011. The game is six years late, but the effort put in has clearly paid off given the huge popularity of the game. That said the delay was in part because the studio behind Fortnite simply put their efforts elsewhere. Perhaps a slow brew is the best?

You don’t need a PC

OK, we’re PC resellers but we will give you a hint about Fortnite just this once: You don’t need a PC to play it. Or, seen another way, you can continue playing even if you’re not at your PC. Fortnite has excellent mobile versions for both iOS and Android. Check them out.

It’s been accused of copying other games

A lesser known game, PUBG, has a battle royal format which is similar to the Fortnite “Battle Royale” setup. PUBG was in fact first with the idea. Fortnite copied the PUBG mode and included it in the game to stop a loss of players to PUBG.

Fortnite VS PUBG

It’s free and always improving

Crazy as it sounds you don’t need to pay anything to play Fortnite, even though it is one of the best games on the market at the moment. You do, however, have the option to make in-game purchases of all kinds. Even better, the game is constantly changing and improving including new modes and complex actions.
