A top-notch PC case can really show off your careful selection of high-performance components. Showing off is exactly what Asus had in mind with their latest Republic of Gamers (ROG) chassis, the Strix Helios. Let’s take a look.

Asus unleashes yet another top product

Asus has slowly been entering more and more areas in the PC custom build market. No longer just the suppliers of GPUs and mainboards, Asus now also manufactures cooling kit and much more. In fact, you can build a PC which is almost fully Asus-made aside from a few components. Anyway, whether you’re an Asus fan or not the Strix Helios chassis is a great PC case for top-end components.

What’s the ROG Strix Helios like?

ROG products from Asus are gamer-focused and it’s clear from the Strix Helios chassis that Asus had high-performance components in mind and Asus components in particular. It supports top-mounted 360mm radiators, the format in use by the Ryoujin series of liquid coolers and also has a power-supply cut-out which would fit the OLED screen that comes with the ROG Thor power supply.

You get a front panel with advanced RGB controls plus USB 3.1 ports (Type C) alongside a fan controller. There are also four standard USB 3.0 controllers (Type A) plus the usual power and reset switches and audio jacks.

Build-wise you’re looking at tempered glass side panels which are great for showing off the investment you made in top-end gaming components. You also get carry handles on this case which helps if you are planning on taking it to LAN parties or the like. Of course, all the LEDs on your Strix Helios case are addressable so you can customize these to look just the way you like them, tying your case LEDs into your broader setup.

Should you buy a Strix Helios case?

Well, it’s not the most expensive case on the market but the Strix Helios is not exactly cheap. There are also a lot of other high-end cases that are top-notch that are competing for this space.  We think the case is a great option if you’re already largely invested in Asus kit as it matches really well with Asus products.

Even if you don’t use Asus products in your custom PC build, we still think the ROG Strix Helios, like most of what’s on offer from Asus, is a solid product worth checking out. However, if you’re not that bothered about showing off your kit, you could opt for a capable but cheaper case.
