A great PC gaming experience requires a good screen. Ideally, you want a large screen with a resolution of higher than 1080p, with HDR compliance and super-high refresh rates. ASUS added another solid offering to the market with the ROG Strix XG32VQR. Let’s take a look.

ASUS XG32VQR-1

What do you get with the XG32VQR?

This screen comes with a solid set of specifications, starting with a useful 1440p resolution which gives you a lot more in-game detail compared to a 1080p screen. This is particularly important given the attractive screen size: this unit’s 32 inches will provide you with a very immersive gaming experience.

The screen also comes with a VA panel which offers a super-fast 4ms response time allowing the screen to meet FreeSync 2 specifications, alongside HDR capability up to DisplayHDR 400. There’s a high brightness level of 450 nits too which ensures that bright scenes stand out even in well-lit rooms.

Physically it is worth noting that this is a curved screen, still something which is either liked or disliked by gamers. You get ASUS Aura Sync lighting tech which lets the screen match the lighting scheme used on your PC. There are more than enough inputs with HDMI 2.0, a pair of USB inputs plus both DisplayPort types and even a headphone hack.

Finally, as befits a more expensive screen this monitor comes with height adjustment alongside the more usual tilt and swivel adjustments. Overall the screen is well-specified and should meet the needs of more demanding gamers.

Should you buy an XG32VQR?

ASUS has just announced the screen so it has not yet been reviewed for performance. We do know that ASUS generally releases solid products with few wobbly offerings in the past. If you are about to buy a screen consider holding off a bit until this model is available as it may offer better performance and higher specs at its price point compared to its competitors.
