Intel’s latest 11th generation Core i9 11900K arrives with a big IPC improvement. The 11th gen processor promises to offer an IPC improvement of up to 19% over the current-gen i9-10900K and 14% performance improvement in Microsoft Flight Simulator at 1080p with high settings.

To overcome the curiosity, The Verve has tested i9-11900K a few days ago to see what it offers to Microsoft Flight Simulator and found that it could boost the performance by 20%.

Gen I9 Processor

The new Intel Core i9-11900K carries 18 core,16 thread design having a boost clock speed up to 5.3GHz. Of course, it sounds less powerful than the existing 10900K processor having 10 cores and 20 threads and a boost clock of up to 5.3GHz, but that not the actual truth, the reality is far away and its credit goes to the design of the apps and games. In recent times, most of the flight simulators run in the main thread, so its performance depends on how well CPU can run single-threaded games and apps.

This is why, Intel manages to stay on top in single-threaded performance for many years, but now AMD has changed the game. Last year, AMD’s new offering Ryzen 9 5950X has finally managed to beat Intel’s performance advantage. However, Intel is also trying to get back the crown with its new 11th gen chips.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is one of the typical examples where Intel wins the games. However, the overall performance depends on the entire system components.

In the Microsoft Flight Simulator test, Intel can boost performance up to 20% depending on the resolution. In the test, several flights took off from different airports and flying over some of the game’s most beautiful and demanding cities. The game runs well and smoothly, however, the results are not up to the mark. It doesn’t go beyond the 60fps without stepping down some settings.

On a flight over Seattle with all settings maxed out, the processors achieve 24% performance improvement at 1080p and 18% uplift at1440p.On the existing i9 10900K, the average frame rate seen was 38fps at 1440p and 33fps at 1080p whereas the core i9-11900K managed to bump up and achieve an average of 45fps and 41fps at 1440p and 1080p.

When the settings turned back to high it immediately leaps up to an average of 66fps at 144p, depicting how amazing frame rat it could hit when settings turned to ultra.

The processor is also tested on Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Cinebench R23, and Geekbench 5 benchmarks, it showed a bit improvement of around 3% at both 1080p and 1440p whereas, in Cinebench and Geekbench, an impressive single-core performance gain is seen.

But, just like graphics cards, finding the latest processors is difficult too. There’s also a shortage of CPUs in the market, but you may luckily get Intel’s 11th gen chips as some Intel partners are already selling these 11th gen chips.

However, if you are unable to find the one, you can check out the following gaming PCs - The Kamikaze PC, Gaming PC 2.0 RGBApocalypse PC, and The Havoc PC. All of these PCs are the most recommended machines to run Microsoft Flight Simulator. And if you are living in Dubai, you may luckily find these PC online at the e-shop of gear-up.me.
