Description
The fifth generation of D-Link DGS-1210 series Gigabit Smart switches (on sale since 2018) offers more powerful hardware, greater port flexibility and more functions. Model DGS-1210-48 (HW revision G1) is a 52-port Gigabit Ethernet Smart Managed switch without fans, suitable for SMB and access Enterprise networks. It is equipped with 48 10/100/1000Base-T RJ-45 ports and 4x Gigabit Combo RJ-45/SFP ports, where the SFP slots are two-speed and support both Gigabit SFP and Fast Ethernet SFP modules.
The DGS-1210-48 switch offers IPv6 support and an advanced set of L2 features such as virtual VLANs, QoS quality of service features, LACP link aggregation, IGMP Snooping for multicast video traffic, Spanning Tree protocols STP/RSTP for ring topologies, 802.1 security features x Radius or ACL.
The Voice VLAN function detects IP phone connections and assigns them automatically to a separate VLAN with a higher priority. A new feature is the unique Surveillance mode, which, using MAC addresses, LLDP and ONVIF protocols, can detect elements of IP camera systems (IP cameras, NVRs) from different manufacturers and automatically assign them to a separate video VLAN with a higher priority. The switch also displays the network topology directly in the switch web interface. This significantly simplifies and speeds up the deployment and management of the company network and IP camera systems.
Management of the switch is from an intuitive web interface or using SNMP commands. A compact set of Telnet CLI commands allows for basic switch settings (set IP address, password, reset, reboot, ping, FW upgrade, configuration upload/backup, show, debug). There is also a free D-Link Network Assistant (DNA) software tool that offers basic management and supervision of multiple switches in a network. The DNA tool scans the network and finds the switch even if its IP address (e.g. default IP address) is not in the same L2 segment. Subsequently, basic settings, division of switches into workgroups and mass administration, upgrade or backup can be performed. In large corporate networks, it is possible to manage switches centrally using the advanced NMP platform D-View 7 (free for 25 devices, more info and online demo at http://dview.dlink..com)
