PROCESSORS

The processor control unit powers the entire computer. Processors are now very powerful and tend to run at high frequencies. The latest trend, however, is towards multiple cores and optimization rather than the endless increase in frequency. The reason is simple - if the processor frequency increases proportionally with power consumption, the temperature rises. This created a huge problem as highly clocked processor requires cooler. Multi-core processors run at much lower frequencies, but with work divided among two, four, or more cores, tasks are completed much faster with lower power consumption and less heat produced.

The powerful processor can largely replace the video card, because integrated graphics cards are now at a good level.

The leading manufacturers of processors on the market include Intel and AMD.
