Secure NAS is a series of storage devices companies Addonics that combine the benefits of RAID storage, network-attached storage (NAS), direct-attached storage (DAS) and hardware AES 256-bit encryption in a single crate. It is ideal for storing large amounts of data, transmission of large amounts of data between different locations or other applications that require protection against data theft.

Secure NAS can be directly connected to any system via a high-speed eSATA connection, which enables fast transfer of large amounts of data. Secure Data within the NAS can be shared over 1 Gigabit network. The entire RAID partition, including the boot sector and partition table is encrypted. Data written to/restored from RAID are encrypted and decrypted in real time with high performance, FIPS certified 256-bit crypto engine.

Secure NAS also adds new useful features, starting 16. 6. 2014 via a new firmware release. Now includes full disk sharing and sharing of existing folders from disks created by other systems. Sharing can be applied to FTP and SMB for different users with different permissions for reading and writing. These new features allow quick sharing settings on existing disks across the LAN and WAN, making this device ideal tool for setting up private cloud storage. It is also a great tool for sharing information on existing disks on a private network, such as a home or a temporary LAN settings without a sophisticated administration.

Handling encryption is very easy. You do not have to run any software or enter the password. Simply insert the correct Cipher key in the drive during system boot, like when starting the car. Once the unit is switched on, you can remove the Cipher key. If the Secure NAS unit is stolen, the RAID partition on any system or network invisible. If the disks were chosen from Secure NAS storage and placed directly into another system, appears to be blank. Disks will be no signs of trackable data even if you refresh is checked by software or by scanning the disk surface.

About this model

Secure NAS R5, SN535E1G model, can accommodate up to five 3.5 "SATA hard drives. All five disks are configured as a single RAID partition for the high performance and reliability. Using a RAID 5 configuration and five 4TB hard disk, you can create a partition sizes up to 16 TB. The entire RAID partition encrypted FIPS certified AES 256-bit crypto engine, can be directly connected to any system via eSATA or you can use it as a repository connected to the network at any 10/100/1000 network.

Combined with USB hubs connected to the USB port on the back of the device, the network can share up to fifteen (15) partitions.

Installation of up to five 3.5 "SATA hard drives
Five drives can be configured as RAID0 (striping), RAID 5 (Parity), RAID 5 + S Large Drive or Clone Mode (N-Way Mirror)
RAID partition can connect to
Fast Ethernet 10/100/1000 Mb/s network usage to a network-attached storage
Any system via eSATA port for use direct-attached storage (connection to USB 3.0 port using an optional USB 3.0 - eSATA adapter)
FIPS certified AES 256-bit encryption of the entire RAID partition
Discs can add and remove as VHS cassettes, without special tools
USB port supports connection of additional USB disks to the network, in combination with a USB hub can connect up to 15 drives.

The Network Attached Storage

Built SMB/Samba server to share files over LAN
Built-in FTP server for file access via Internet
Great for setting up private cloud storage for quick sharing drives (these features require the latest firmware V98a.5 issued 16. 6. 2014) 1
Support complete sharing drives with existing data in SMB and FTP
Support existing collection components2 that are already on the disc, sharing the SMB and FTP
Complete Sharing drives or folders can be set to authorized users with different permissions to read and write
The built-in utility for file formatting on XFS and EXT3
Supports 10/100/1000 Mb/s network
The maximum transfer speed over Gigabit LAN:

Support for XFS, EXT2, EXT3, EXT4, NTFS or FAT32 file systems
The maximum size of the partition or disk:
XFS - 16 TB
EXT3 - 16 TB
EXT4 - 16 TB
FAT32 - 2 TB
USB port supports connection of additional USB disks to the network. In combination with a USB hub can connect up to 15 drives
Supporting up to 15 partitions for RAID or disk - which allows up to 240 partitions on a network
Storage devices with existing data can be connected via a USB port (folder name must be written in uppercaseletters, so that it can be shared). See section Q & A section in the security settings of files and folders
The maximum number of user accounts:
Samba server - 64.0000 *
The maximum number of simultaneous connections:
Samba and FTP server altogether - 32,000 *
Built MLDonkey client for direct download to the attached storage device
Web GUI administration
User management to allow read-only access or read/write access to folders
The USB port can be used to power most 2.5 "USB hard drives or other USB storage devices with low power consumption

  • Theoretical limits in the kernel. With the growing number of simultaneous connections, the performance will decrease depending on the activities approach of simultaneous connections.

1. These new features are available in the latest firmware V98a.5. Products delivered after 15. 6. 2014, the firmware contain.

The second can only share folders whose name contains no spaces

AES 256-bit encryption - the highest level encryption standard
FIPS 140-2 certified crypto module defined in NIST
Full-disk encryption. When you connect an encrypted disk to another system no signs of trackable data.
It does not require training. Encryption/decryption is activated via dongle, like when using plain keys to open the door.
High performance - up to 150 MB/s
OS-independent - it can be used on any system
Cipher key
In caseof loss or theft Cipher key, there are no backdoors. To ensure that you have a backup key, each containing a pair of Cipher Secure NAS keys. One of the keys should be kept in a safe place and, if necessary, can be the key to send it back to the company Dataflex additional keys for duplication. If one of the two keys to lose, make sure you before sending the final key for duplication backing up all data inside your Secure NAS. Dataflex Company is not responsible for lost keys delivery or for restoring data within Secure NAS. Customers can also ordering Secure ask us for more Cipher keys with the same code.

AES 256-bit key used in Cipher Secure NAS is the same Cipher key, which is used in Addonics management system keys or the keys to the company mission for Dataflex reprogramming service (free of charge).

Optional management system Cipher Key - For organizations with large effects, you can manage your own keys to investing in Addonics Cipher key duplicating system.

Direct-Attached Storage

Optional Addonics USB 3.0 - eSATA adapter for connection to USB 3.0/2.0 port
The discs are attached to Port Multiplier, which can be configured as RAID0 (striping), RAID1 (mirroring), RAID 5 (Parity), RAID 5 + S Large Drive (Connection), Clone Mode (N-Way Mirror) or individual drives *
RAID setup via dip switches on the back
Independent of OS, it can be used on any system
RAID diagnostics using LED lights

  • Setting the individual disks are supported when Secure NAS directly connected to the system. When connected to a network, you can share only drive connected to port 0 to port multiplier.
